Have I mentioned a book called Margin? Maybe I only wrote all those blog posts in my head after I read it. At any rate, it's a great read and I am fully on board. I am constantly trying to keep my stressors at a minimum because we all know that if the mama is frazzled, the whole family is affected. And for the record, I have had a lot of big stresses- not necessarily bad things, but events or circumstances that have added stress to our lives this past year. Scratch that, we're a military family....for years now.
Anyway, we had guests in for Christmas and they ended up staying slightly longer than we had anticipated. Big Girl's 10th birthday followed on the heels of that, a lot of doctor/dental appointments, and then I had to beg the Lord to give me motivation for our trip out to North Carolina last week.
We were thrilled to see these ladies (literally, our angels wrapped in flesh).
We were not that excited about the state of our house that we still own after taking it back from the tenants. The kids enjoyed 4 days of getting spoiled while Mr. YH and I worked 10-hour days painting and making repairs and arranging for new appliances, counter tops, carpet, and other repairs we could not do. We praise the Lord that we were able to accomplish what we wanted to get done. And we only had one argument. And we agreed we are much, much wiser in the end (i.e. we'll never be landlords again if we can at all avoid it!). Then we got back in the van and drove the 14 hours back over two days.
We still have stuff on our plates, and it's big stuff. My mother-in-law called the other day to ask about some plans and I told her we hadn't thought that far ahead: we were simply trying to eat our elephants one bite at a time.
God blessed me with a free ticket to the Dot Mom conference coming up in Dallas this month. I am so excited to have a little getaway and am praying for a fresh perspective and loads of encouragement.
So that's our 411. {Are we still saying that? (I've been a day late and dollar short since this last move, so I wouldn't be surprised in the least if that's gone into the annals of history by now!)} ☺ I hope to be back soon with birthday photos!
Oh Tara. I can feel your tension in this post. Is tension the right word? There is something I'm sensing and while I'm not sure what it is, I'll pray for you.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, but I can't help but get excited when you mention possible plans with your MIL. ;)
(((Hugs))) Friend!
Sounds like you have had your hands full. Hope you are well and the posts keep coming. They are fun reads!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your house! I hope it sells quickly so you no longer have to stress over it.
ReplyDelete"Trying to eat our elephants one bite at a time." Bwhahahahahaha
Glad the hard work is done!! I know the kids and M, M & B had fun! :) Will pray the house sells quickly, that the Dot Mom conference is refreshing and that you get some well-needed rest. Can't wait to see you in June! :)
